The Green Bay Packers have a lot of questions to answer this offseason. After a 22-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Wild Card stage, it became clear that starting young at almost every position on the field is not the best method to win important football games. In 2024, the Packers were 0-6 against the Eagles, Minnesota Vikings, and Detroit Lions, with a 1-5 record against the NFC North.
Simply put: they need to improve. They also need to get healthy. Notably, Jaire Alexander was lost for the remainder of the season after injuring his knee in Week Eight. He was later diagnosed with a torn PCL. He tried to rehab his knee without surgery, but it was simply not improving. Green Bay elected to place him on injured reserve after determining that he would require season-ending surgery.
Jaire Alexander is not sure if he will return with the Green Bay Packers in 2025.
Not only did the operation ruin Alexander’s season, but it appears that his career in Green Bay is also finished. As the players returned to Lambeau Field to clean out their lockers, many answered questions from reporters. Alexander declined to speak. As Kelly Hallinan’s post shows, Alexander not only refused to engage with the media, but he also stated that he was unsure whether he would return in 2025 and that he had nothing positive to say.
Green Bay Packers fans are dragging Jaire Alexander on social media.
Needless to say, Packers fans were already upset with Alexander for his actions in 2023, which resulted in a one-game suspension from the team. Others were irritated by his failure to stay fit, having had three of his last four seasons cut short. When word of what the two-time Pro Bowl cornerback had said spread on social media, fans were outraged.
If this marks the end of Alexander’s stint with the Packers, it will be regrettable. Not only did Green Bay draft him in the first round, but they also made him the highest-paid cornerback in the NFL for a while. Fans and reporters may never know what happened behind closed doors to make Alexander so bitter, but it’s difficult to imagine the two sides reconciling this summer.
