Breaking News: Vardy Considering £98 Million Arsenal Transfer

Arsenal have been linked with a deal for Leicester City striker Jamie Vardy since Foxes manager Claudio Ranieri told Italian media on June 4 that the attacker was scheduled to have a medical with the north Londoners. However, there have been reservations raised about a possible shift to north London.

Vardy is considering rejecting Arsenal’s offer On Sunday, June 19, BBC Sport’s David Ornstein stated that Vardy is “set to reject Arsenal and stay at Leicester,” while no final decision has been made. Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger announced on Saturday that Vardy would not transfer to Arsenal, according to Tencent:

Vardy’s Decision Reportedly Delayed Tuesday, May 15. Vardy is anticipated to make a definitive choice after England’s international participation concludes, according to Matt Law of the Telegraph. Ornstein previously stated that a decision was expected on Monday. The Daily Mirror’s John Cross and James Nursey reported on the same day that Wenger is “braced for disappointment” in his attempt to get Vardy. Cross and Nursey reported that Wenger feels Vardy “would have accepted Arsenal’s offer by now if he was keen to move to the Emirates [Stadium].”

He’s a superb player, so this is great news for us. As I already stated, I am pleased with competition. We have always had terrific strikers at Arsenal, and I want the best for this team. Hopefully, he will help us win this title. The manager wanted to buy at least one or two strikers, so I expected a great striker, and I believe it will assist the team, and hopefully he will score a lot of goals like he did for Leicester.

Vardy is poised to cash in on breakout season. Speculation over Vardy’s future has been widespread since the striker’s form led Leicester to the Premier League title success last season, and broadcaster Stan Collymore believes the transfer will be a positive one.

Except for Leicester, who appear to be losing perhaps the most essential player in their title bid. The hope is that Vardy’s impending departure will be an isolated incident. According to Sky Sports News HQ, England striker Vardy recently expressed his allegiance to Leicester, the club that gave him his break into the top flight:

However, football writer Tom McDermott took note of the monetary increase the player is expected to receive from a move to the Emirates Stadium, which is likely a major role in his stated desire to move: The Gunners have been connected with a number of strikers after failing to sign any senior outfield players in the summer of 2015, with Giroud struggling to inspire confidence in his ability to lead their line. Vardy, 29, may be a short-term answer to Arsenal’s attacking difficulties, according to Bleacher Report’s Sam Tighe, as what is undoubtedly his most valuable asset may soon decline:

Vardy’s move to Arsenal is far from complete, despite Ranieri’s comments indicating that his star striker will join the Gunners this summer. Both teams will compete in the UEFA Champions League group stage next season, and after triggering his release clause, Arsenal is on the verge of signing last season’s Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year.
