Just In: The Atlanta Braves made a surprise reactivation

Last season, four Braves great collaborated to provide one of the most entertaining broadcasts ever. This year, they are bringing it back.

Last season, Bally Sports announced a four-man broadcast crew that included Atlanta Braves Hall of Famers Chipper Jones, Tom Glavine, and John Smoltz, as well as former Brave and full-time analyst Jeff Francoeur. Their first game, which appeared on paper to be a pitcher’s duel, turned into a gunfight, and the crew was incredibly entertaining throughout.

Of course, after multiple lead changes and incredible home runs, the game finished on a walk-off homer with one of the legends’ most memorable calls of all time.

The group got one extra game last season, and Bally regarded the broadcasts as a success, so they’re bringing them back on May 15 when Atlanta faces the Chicago Cubs.

The four-man broadcast is back, with one significant change.

In between the second and third innings of last night’s game, Jeff Francoeur appeared on the broadcast to introduce the four-man booth and refer to the lineup change.

John Smoltz then appeared to confirm that he would not be joining the Braves’ roster when they face the Cubs on May 15. He will be replaced by Brian McCann, a former catcher.

McCann has previously appeared on the Braves broadcast, including a cameo when Chip Caray and Franceour called the game from the chophouse. He’s also made several appearances on the show as a fan in the audience.

Chipper Jones, Tom Glavine, and Frenchy will reprise their positions in the booth. We’ll see more hilarious clips, such as Chipper steamrolling Greg Maddux, and Jeff Francoeur will most certainly roast his good pal Brian McCann as well.

During the game, the crew will most likely be joined by additional former Braves. The May 15 game begins at 7:20 PM EST, and you won’t want to miss it.
