Done Deal: Green Bay Packers Sign Another Quick WR For Jordan Love

The Green Bay Packers have done everything they can to prepare Jordan Love for success in 2024. The draft concentrated on two major areas: offensive line and defense. Over 80% of their draft picks (9 out of 11) targeted those two regions.

MarShawn Lloyd, one of the greatest running backs in the draft, was also selected. The Packers are now focusing on adding wide outs following the draft.

The Green Bay Packers have signed another fast wide receiver for Jordan Love, according to their official website.

The Green Bay Packers have signed WR Julian Hicks, OL Lecitus Smith (luh-SEET-us), and WR Dimitri Stanley, while releasing CB Anthony Johnson and DL Deandre Johnson and waiving/injuring WR Thyrick Pitts (thighrick).

General Manager Brian Gutekunst announced the deals Monday.

Stanley (6-0, 200), a rookie, started his career at the University of Colorado (2018-21) and finished at Iowa State (2022-23). He had 70 receptions for 820 yards (11.7 average) and four touchdowns in four seasons with the Buffaloes. He was chosen to the SB Nation All-Pac-12 freshmen team as a redshirt freshman in 2019.

Stanley appeared in 23 games with the Cyclones, making nine starts, totaling 48 receptions for 559 yards (11.6 average) and a touchdown. He will wear number 19 for the Packers.

What Do The Packers Get With Dimitri Stanley?

“We had a few disputes on the field today. “They’ve already started,” coach Matt LaFleur said following Friday’s practice.

“You have to go back and study the tape to really get a clearer picture of how they played, but some guys stood out on specific plays and piqued your curiosity. “As long as they are on the field, they have an opportunity.”

“We had one guy who had a one-handed grab out there that was pretty impressive,” LaFleur added. “It may be a runner making a clean cut. It could be as simple as observing some of the players’ athleticism; perhaps it’s someone up front who is quick off the ball, or simply seeing guys re-direct.

I believe Rich (Bisaccia) does an excellent job in his exercises of performing some full-cover drills that allow you to see some of the guys’ agility and change-of-direction abilities. There are several things that can cause a male to flash.”

Stanley is the son of former Packers wide receiver Walter Stanley, a fourth-round choice in 1985 who spent four seasons in Green Bay.

It will be intriguing to see if Stanley can carve out a place for himself on this team.
