“Could Make Sense As A Landing Spot”: Green Bay Packers a Potential Destination For Former First-Round Pick This Offseason

The Green Bay Packers will be seeking for more defensive help this offseason. When the season ends, the Packers will need to address two positions: defensive line and cornerback. This offseason, the Green Bay Packers may possibly add linebacker depth. The Green Bay Packers will have the opportunity to sign a large number of free agents.

Bleacher Report believes that the Green Bay Packers could be a landing spot for Khalil Mack. This offseason, Khalil Mack is focused on his playoff run with the Los Angeles Chargers. The Chargers will play the Houston Texans this Saturday at 3:30 p.m. CT on CBS. After the season, Los Angeles might decide not to re-sign Mack, a former first-round pick in the 2014 NFL Draft. The Bleacher Report Scouting Department believes the Green Bay Packers could be a potential destination for Khalil Mack in free agency this offseason. They stated:

Khalil Mack, the Chargers pass rusher, will turn 34 in February, which is the one major knock on the possible Hall of Famer. He is still a consistent contributor—he played 61 percent of the Chargers’ defensive snaps in 2024—and a capable sack artist. Mack ended the regular season with six sacks, six tackles for loss, and 22 quarterback pressures. These aren’t particularly impressive figures, but it’s worth mentioning that Mack had a groin injury late in the season. He had four sacks after eight games and was extremely productive last year, recording 17 sacks, 21 tackles for loss, and 36 quarterback pressures.

While Mack’s age will most certainly keep him away from rebuilding clubs, he should be sought after by those with serious postseason expectations for 2025. The Packers might make sense as a landing destination. Green Bay could pressure opposing quarterbacks (45 sacks), but it frequently relied on interior defenders to do it. Derrick Ansley, the Packers passing game coordinator, was Mack’s defensive coordinator in Los Angeles in 2023.

It’ll be intriguing to see what happens if the Packers sign Khalil Mack this offseason. It would make a valuable addition to Green Bay’s defensive line. However, Mack cannot be the only defensive line move they make this NFL offseason. Atlanta Falcons Could Also Be A Suitor. Mack might also sign with the Atlanta Falcons this offseason. The Bleacher Report Scouting Department believes that might be his next destination besides the Green Bay Packers. Atlanta nearly missed the playoffs in the NFC South, finishing 8-9.

It’s hard to imagine Khalil Mack will be back with the Los Angeles Chargers next season. The Packers cannot afford to pass up on a talented defensive lineman like Mack or others during NFL summer.
