Pundit warns Sunderland could do something ‘crazy’ in the January transfer window

Sunderland have been advised against pursuing a ‘crazy’ January move as interest in their best players grows. Sunderland has a lot of work to do as the January transfer window approaches. The Black Cats are currently dealing with a lot of unwanted interest in some of their top players, following their outstanding first half of the 2024/25 season. Regis Le Bris’ side is in fourth place in the Championship table after a 1-1 draw with Bristol City in midweek. Ahead of January, it has been claimed that Manchester United are interested in Chris Rigg, one of Sunderland’s stars this season, while Jobe Bellingham has been linked to Borussia Dortmund.

The 19-year-old could follow in his brother Jude’s footsteps and join Dortmund in January. However, it has been stated that Real Madrid is also keeping an eye on Jobe Bellingham in preparation for January. A number of teams are said to be interested in a January deal for Bellingham, who was the subject of bids from Brentford and Crystal Palace during the last summer transfer window.

Carlton Palmer believes Sunderland would be ‘stupid’ to sell Jobe Bellingham in January. In an interview with Football League World, analyst Carlton Palmer examined Bellingham’s predicament, claiming that Sunderland and Kristjaan Speakman would be stupid to sell the muscular midfielder in January. Palmer stated, “If they are promoted, he will be happy to stay and play in the Premier League.” “I believe offers will come in, and Sunderland’s resolve will be tested during the January transfer window.” But, as I previously stated, they would be stupid to move him during the January transfer window. This season, Bellingham has two goals and two assists in 17 Championship games with the Black Cats.
