Jordan Love of the Green Bay Packers is turning heads and gaining the respect of experts and fans alike. After a shaky start, the signal caller is coming into his own and quickly becoming a household name. What may not be recognized, and what is now flying under the radar, is that he is on pace with other notable quarterbacks in one notable metric.
The Green Bay Packers Have Something in Common With NFL Elites
Whatever you think of these two names, Jordan Love being on the same list as Lamar Jackson and Patrick Mahomes is a great accomplishment. Love is doing something well, considering the other two players named here are MVPs.
Love has three or more touchdown throws in five games this season. Only he, Jackson, and Mahomes have done so as 25-year-olds or younger.
This statistic reveals a lot. Has it been bumpy at times? Yes. However, with more time, he has improved. And now, Love is firmly established as one of the league’s top quarterbacks.
The Green Bay Packers Offense Is Flowing With Love
His most complete game came against the Minnesota Vikings for the Green Bay Packers. What was impressive was that, despite an ailing wide receiver room, Love demonstrated mastery of the offense and created plays that were simply breathtaking to see.
Now, pundits are praising Love, and others who were once critical are seeking to appear as if they understood all along. Whether you jumped on board early or wanted to see more from him, Love is deserving of the accolades he is presently receiving.
Green Bay Packers Strengths and Weaknesses
Despite his tremendous development over the year, there will undoubtedly be areas where he can improve. Even the best of the best, if you watched Tom Versus Time, Tom Brady was looking for ways to make even the smallest changes that could improve his performance.
Watching him play, the coaching staff has stated that it is his footwork.
The mechanics in Love’s foundation are sound when he has time or can sense the pass rush and reset himself. And when his base is solid, he can throw the ball as well as anyone in the NFL.
Love will almost fade and turn away from the throw at times, especially when the line is unable to hold up in protection. Of course, standing in the pocket is easier said than done. In general, the stronger and more solid his fundamentals are, the better.
Having said that, the Green Bay Packers quarterback is seeing the field considerably better. His deep throws are looking fantastic on release, and there’s one more thing to be excited about. His receivers’ timing has improved, and they appear to be on the same page more frequently now.
While Love is not quite at the level of Jackson or Mahomes, he has showed flashes of being able to make similar plays. Will he be able to catch up to them with additional time and reps?
