Sunderland’s star was named Championship Player of the Year.

Sunderland have had a solid start to the Championship season, finishing fourth after 11 games despite a 4-0 home setback to Middlesbrough before the international break.

The Black Cats have won six of their eleven matches, drawn one, and lost the other four. They are nine points behind second-placed Ipswich Town, who have made a successful comeback to the second flight. Tony Mowbray’s squad returns to action following the international break at Stoke City, followed by a trip to current league leaders Leicester City.
