The £3.5 million player has been linked with a loan move in January, despite Régis Le Bris’ unambiguous message earlier this month. Sunderland midfielder Milan Aleksic has been linked with a loan move to Sparta Rotterdam in the January transfer window. However, at the start of December, Sunderland head coach Régis Le Bris ruled out loaning Milan Aleksic during the winter transfer window.
Sunderland made a major investment in the Serbian midfielder on deadline day, beating off fierce competition from around Europe to capture the 19-year-old for an estimated £3.5 million. Since then, Aleksic has been a fixture in the matchday squad, but he has only appeared off the bench once, against Millwall. Le Bris, on the other hand, has ruled out a loan move for Aleksic during the forthcoming January transfer window, insisting that the midfielder needed time to adjust to his new surroundings at Sunderland and learn English after moving to the UK last summer. Following Chris Rigg’s injury against Blackburn Rovers on Boxing Day, the Frenchman may have to turn to the Serbian.
“For every player, we will have a specific assessment,” Le Bris stated when asked about potential outgoings in January. “Milan probably still needs to be a part of this environment. He previously lived in Serbia and is now learning English, which he must continue to do. “He’s also learning a new style of football. He possesses many positive attributes, and spending more time with us is most likely the best option for him. “We’ll see,” Le Bris said ahead of Sunderland’s Championship game against Bristol City earlier this month.
