Huggins scored his first senior goal for Sunderland against Watford on Wednesday, but he was forced off in the 30th minute against Middlesbrough at the Stadium of Light.
Huggins was replaced at full-back by Jenson Seelt, who walked around the side of the pitch when he was withdrawn.
