New Everton Prospective Owners The Friedkin Group is under siege at AS Roma. Everton’s possible owners The Friedkin Group is apparently planning a shocking U-turn at AS Roma. TFG hopes to complete their takeover of the Toffees from majority owner Farhad Moshiri by the end of the year. Last month, the American group led by Dan Friedkin agreed to buy Moshiri’s 94.1 percent ownership.
If the takeover is approved, Everton will become the second big European club under TFG’s management. They have controlled AS Roma since August 2020, and the Serie A club won the European Conference League in their first season and advanced to the Europa League semi-finals last season. However, TFG has recently encountered backlash from Roma supporters after making the controversial decision to fire Stadio Olimpico legend Daniele de Rossi as head coach only four games into the season. De Rossi, probably the second-greatest player in I Giallorossi history, signed a new three-year contract this summer and was replaced by Ivan Juric until the end of the season.
Fans have protested against TFG, with fan organization Curva Sud displaying two banners before and during Sunday’s 1-0 loss to Inter Milan. They also did not enter the stadium until 15 minutes into the match. According to Italian press agency Adnkronos (via Planet Roma), TFG is debating whether to restore De Rossi in the hot seat amid a ‘new crisis’. According to reports, Friedkin may announce De Rossi’s return alongside a new CEO after Lina Souloukou resigned following De Rossi’s departure.
It is suggested that De Rossi’s return would be a’relaunch of the Friedkin’s commitment and a considerable admission of the error committed in management that led to the transfer of ownership and then to the sacrifice of De Rossi’. However, prior to the Inter loss, Roma sporting director Florent Ghisolfi expressed his support for Juric, who has won two of his six games to date. “Juric arrived in a really tough situation, but he must be allowed time to complete his duties. “The next seven games before the break will be critical for understanding how things are going,” Ghisolfi told DAZN.
“It is true that we invested extensively in the transfer market, but we also reduced the pay bill and the average age of the team, and this is a process that we have just recently began. Inter are further advanced in their endeavor, but it also takes time to see results. “Playing in a warm atmosphere with our fans is special for us.” To reclaim their adoration, we must work hard, make sacrifices on the field, defend our principles, and offer our all.
