Academy gem Chris Rigg is attracting attention. Jobe Bellingham continues to excel in midfield. Romaine Mundle has thrived since Jack Clarke’s departure from Sunderland in the summer. Regis Le Bris is practically spoilt for choice on matchdays, as the Frenchman has plenty of depth at the Stadium of Light. However, Le Bris will argue that the team as a whole is responsible for Sunderland’s success this season, since they presently sit first in the Championship table.
There may be a few players whose contributions are overlooked, one of them could be Dennis Cirkin. ‘Outstanding’ Dennis Cirkin receives accolades at Sunderland. Cirkin returns to the Sunderland XI for this season after appearing just eight times in the Championship last season due to injury. His comeback was immediately noticed by fans. Cirkin brings tremendous balance and energy to the left side of defence, dashing up and down the wings.
Cirkin, meanwhile, is receiving little attention at Sunderland right now, with the club’s attacking studs taking center stage. On the Championship Check-In podcast, however, analyst Sam Parkin praised Cirkin’s contributions this season. He remarked, “I believe he has been one of the best players in the division this season. “When you watch him live, he is an excellent athlete. I think he gets up and down; the way he glides with the ball is eye-catching, but his decision-making and ball-handling abilities have been excellent this season.”
Dennis Cirkin’s statistics at Sunderland thus far this season Full-backs are frequently underappreciated, particularly in a Sunderland team with so much youthful and exciting quality in the midfield and attacking third. However, Cirkin’s statistics demonstrate how crucial he has been to the squad this season. Cirkin has the seventh-highest average passes-per-game of any Sunderland player this season (24.6), as well as the third-highest critical passes-per-game (one, tied with Mundle). Cirkin is particularly effective defensively. He has the most average tackles per game of any Sunderland player this season (3.8), the most interceptions (2.3), and the third-highest clearances per game (2.8).
