Finally, the player is beginning to fulfill the promise that drew him to Leeds United – the Whites’ period is over.

With Victor Orta in charge of transfers at Leeds United, it’s safe to conclude that there was a special emphasis on Spain and Spanish talent.

During his tenure as manager, a long list of Spanish players passed through the Elland Road gates, including striker Rafa Mujica.

He’s now playing for Arouca in Portugal, and it appears he’s finally finding his feet, if O Jogo is to be believed.

They cover the guy today, claiming he is the ‘goal man of a Spanish armada’ who has been ‘fruitful’ for Arouca this season.

Despite disappointing results, there is confidence at the Portuguese club thanks to their forward line, of which Mujica is a key member.

After a difficult few years in which he left Barcelona for Leeds, failed to make the grade in England, and bounced around numerous clubs before a free transfer to Las Palmas in July 2021, he’s determined to be happy in Alvalade.
A year later, he was on the move again, this time to Arouca, and he now appears to be on the right track, with 18 goals and two assists in 42 appearances.

14 goals last year have already been followed by four this year, raising expectations that he can continue his goal-scoring exploits for Arouca throughout the season.

It’s winning him accolades from everyone, especially those who remember him from his time at Barcelona, where he was well regarded before moving to Leeds.

Indeed, there is speculation that he could be good enough to play for one of Portugal’s major clubs, though he’ll need to keep scoring consistently for them to take notice.

For the time being, his primary emphasis is on performing well with his present team and realizing the promise he had displayed but seemed to have lost in Leeds.
