Trey Moore, the talented linebacker for the Texas Longhorns, has recently been suspended indefinitely following shocking allegations that he bet against his own team in multiple games. This incident has not only brought serious legal repercussions but also sparked intense debate within the college football community. Head coach Steve Sarkisian addressed the matter with a candid statement that reflected the gravity of the situation and the broader implications for both the program and the player.

In his official statement, Sarkisian expressed deep disappointment and sadness over the allegations against Moore. He said:

**“First and foremost, we are devastated by the news regarding Trey Moore’s involvement in betting against his own team. This is a serious violation of not only NCAA rules but the fundamental values we uphold within our program. We emphasize the importance of integrity, loyalty, and respect for the game, and these allegations, if proven true, go against everything we stand for.”**

Sarkisian continued by emphasizing the impact such behavior has on the integrity of the team and the sport as a whole. **“In college football, we talk a lot about trust—trust between teammates, trust between coaches and players, and trust between our program and our supporters. Betting against the team compromises that trust in the worst way possible. It undermines the efforts and sacrifices that every member of this program puts in day in and day out. It’s a betrayal of the Longhorn family.”**

The head coach acknowledged that the legal proceedings would follow their due course, but he also stressed that the program would fully cooperate with authorities and the NCAA investigation. **“We will be fully transparent and work with the NCAA and legal authorities to get to the bottom of this situation. There is no place for actions like this in our program or in college sports, and we are committed to upholding the highest standards of conduct.”**

Sarkisian also made it clear that the well-being of his players remains a priority. **“As disappointed as we are, it’s important to remember that these are still young men learning life’s lessons. We will provide Trey with support, both legally and emotionally, while also making it clear that there are consequences for his actions.”**
