Sean Dyche is still looking for a physically imposing midfielder to bring to Everton. The Toffees lost one of the most threatening midfielders in Amadou Onana earlier this summer, who signed a £50 million deal with Aston Villa, and while adding Jesper Lindstrom on loan appears to be wise business, a more muscular presence is required alongside the Danish.

Everton are making a late attempt to sign a player of this type. Everton are looking to recruit Jens Cajuste. According to Tutto Napoli, Everton are seeking to hijack Ipswich’s advanced talks to recruit Jens Cajuste on loan from Napoli. The Toffees already engaged with Napoli this summer to sign the aforementioned Lindstrom, and they are now looking to reach another arrangement with the Serie A club.

It comes after Gianluca Di Marzio announced on Wednesday that Ipswich were close to signing Cajuste on loan for the 2024/25 season. According to Tutto Napoli, the 6ft 2in Sweden international has already arrived in England after agreeing to join Ipswich, but Everton is still in the running and is attempting to make a late lunge to sign the £25,374-per-week guy.

Cajuste, who Football Transfers discovered shares similarities with Donny van de Beek, appeared in 35 games in all competitions last season, assisting twice. Ipswich might already have moved on. Rumours concerning Everton and Cajuste have emerged, which is an interesting development. According to Mike McGrath of the Telegraph, Ipswich Town are close to signing Kalvin Phillips on loan from Manchester City.

In our opinion, this could indicate that the Tractor Boys are now shifting their focus away from Cajuste. It comes after talkSPORT reported that Phillips was also a target for Everton, so it’s possible that the Toffees’ desire to capture Cajuste has contributed to the England international’s move to Ipswich.
