Jim White has given information he has received about Andy Bell and George Downing in relation to the Everton acquisition. The journalist and presenter was discussing the drawn-out takeover situation live on talkSPORT on Wednesday [7 August, 11:55]. White indicated that Bell and Downing had no intention of renewing their interest in buying the club from Farhad Moshiri. This comes after Dan Friedkin’s proposed takeover of the Toffees fell through more than a month earlier. “Someone told me that Andy Bell and George [Downing] are out and are not interested in coming back,” White informed me.

Everton needs to complete the takeover as quickly as feasible. Everton has yet to find a suitable owner in what appears to be one of the most dominant tales of recent seasons. Moshiri has had the club up for sale for what feels like an eternity and has unable to consummate a transaction, despite multiple offers appearing to be quite near. Every time fans believe a deal is about to be completed, something goes wrong.

While the change of ownership has not had a significant impact on the Toffees this transfer window, it remains to be seen how much more money Moshiri will invest in the team as the season progresses. In actuality, Everton must complete a transaction as quickly as possible in order to secure the club’s future. While the arrivals of Iliman Ndiaye and Jake O’Brien will undoubtedly aid their on-field success, they require further support for other aspects such as their new stadium and academy, to name a few. Downing and Bell had emerged as major competitors to take over, but now that those rumors have been dispelled, it remains to be seen who will take the lead next.
