Gabby Agbonlahor believes Everton would be “playing with fire” if they replaced Sean Dyche after escaping relegation to the Championship. The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, stated the 51-year-old is the best-equipped man to maintain the Toffees in the Premier League despite their financial difficulties. According to the Daily Record (25 May), Everton have launched the search for a new manager as they prepare for a probable Premier League return.

According to the report, the Toffees are looking for prospects and have made first contact with Botafogo coach Luis Castro. That is despite the fact that current manager Dyche’s contract runs until June 2025, following his appointment in January. Everton must win at Bournemouth on the last day of the season (May 28) to ensure Premier League survival.

On Monday (22 May), Football Insider stated that the Merseysiders will implement a sell-to-buy policy this summer, which will require them to dispose some of their more prized assets in order to fund new arrivals. Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury, “I can’t see that happening.”Why would they remove Dyche? “It’s fine to hire another manager, but you must provide them all the resources they need to succeed. Why would a manager take that job? “We’ve seen managers reject down Spurs jobs because of the idea, and the same goes for Everton.

“They’re in debt, and there’s no money to spend; if anyone can keep you up next season, it’s Dyche. “You’re playing with fire if you go for another manager who won’t have the right tools.”
