Dylan Edwards will most likely be sidelined for four weeks, according to the Penrith Panthers.
The fullback, who suffered a PCL injury to his right knee during the final game of this year’s State of Origin series, will wear a brace for the next several weeks before returning to training.
“Dylan Edwards was the only Panthers player who suffered an injury during the Origin decider. “He suffered a high-grade PCL injury in his right knee early in the second half and battled on in true Dyl Edwards fashion,” Panthers head physio Pete Green stated in a club medical report.
“At this point, Dyl will wear a brace for a short time to preserve his knee while the ligament heals, and then it will be a matter of restoring his strength in the gym and rebuilding his confidence in running before rejoining the squad.
“We will see him return to play in approximately four weeks’ time.”
The Panthers have also stated that Jack Cole will miss this game due to a calf issue he has been working on during his bye week, while winger Jesse McLean has sustained a collarbone injury that may allow him to return in time for the finals.
“In terms of other more recent injury news in the Panthers’ camp, Jack Cole will miss this week’s game due to a small calf complaint that he has been rehabbing during the bye week,” according to Green.
“Jesse McLean, who played in our NSW Cup team last weekend, suffered a fractured collarbone, which has already been fixed and is in the early stages of a six to eight-week recovery. Jesse will be striving hard to return before the finals.”
