Jamie Vardy’s injury might put him at the start of the Premier League season.

The Leicester City striker is expected to miss the FA Cup quarter-final meeting with Chelsea owing to injury. Chelsea’s FA Cup quarterfinal opponents Leicester City manager Enzo Maresca has revealed that striker Jamie Vardy will miss Sunday’s game at Stamford Bridge. Vardy has recently found the net, netting twice in a 2-2 draw with Hull City, his sixth and seventh goals in his previous seven outings. However, it appears like he will not be available against Chelsea, as the Blues attempt to avoid an upset and return to Wembley Stadium for the second time this season.

Leicester boss Maresca said before the last couple of Championship games that Vardy had not been training in order to manage the 37-year-old. But the Italian has now revealed that he has sustained a minor injury. Vardy will be joining winger Kasey McAteer and full-back Ricardo Pereira on the sidelines. “Kasey and Ricky are injured. Jamie is injured. As I mentioned, we play Sunderland away, and he did not train,” Maresca explained. “Then he played the final game but was wounded again. Leicestershire Live reported that there are further problems. “It’s not a big issue and we have the international break,” said the player. “Kasey [McAteer] is the worst one, we are not sure if he’s back after the international break.”

But there’s some good news for Leicester City: Wilfred Ndidi has returned. He had been absent for two months but has played the last two games. Maresca has stated, however, that the squad will limit his playing time as he improves. “We’re attempting to handle his condition [Ndidi]. He played 25 minutes against Sunderland and 45 in his last game. We’ll see what happens throughout Sunday’s game. With all the injured players, you have to be cautious.”
