Everton are allegedly looking to bring former Tottenham defender Davinson Sanchez back to the Premier League after upping their bid to sign the 28-year-old from Galatasaray. According to Turkish newspaper Ajansspor, Everton are interested in Davinson Sanchez. The Toffees have been scanning the market for a centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window, as Jarrad Branthwaite’s long-term future remains unknown. They have also increased their bid to sign the 28-year-old former Tottenham defender from Galatasaray. Davinson Sanchez and his career thus far

Davinson Sanchez has made reasonable progress since moving to Galatasaray from Tottenham Hotspur last summer. The Colombian international was born in Caloto and spent his early years in his home country before graduating from Atletico Nacional’s development academy. However, his stock skyrocketed during his brief tenure at Ajax, alerting high-profile clubs across Europe. Tottenham came knocking in August 2017, and he played regularly for the North London club for the first three seasons. However, Sanchez’s stock began to slip during the 2020/21 season, before he became a squad option. So the 28-year-old needed a new beginning, which came at Galatasaray.

Sanchez appeared 32 times and played over 2,000 minutes, but fitness difficulties hampered him, and he started 25 games in all competitions. However, that was enough to pique the interest of several well-known clubs, particularly in the Premier League. Recent reports have linked him to Newcastle United, but Everton is also interested in him. Is a Premier League return in the works? Everton’s interest in Davinson Sanchez is understandable. The Toffees have been scanning the market for a centre-back ahead of the summer transfer window, as Jarrad Branthwaite’s long-term future remains unknown. With Manchester United still interested in signing the Englishman despite two failed bids, Everton should look for a successor.

Several alternatives, notably Omar Alderete, have since emerged on Everton’s radar, with Sanchez also a possible target. According to the most recent report, the Toffees have stepped up their efforts to bring the 28-year-old former Tottenham defender back to the Premier League. It’s unknown whether the current offer for Sanchez will persuade Galatasaray to trade him. Nonetheless, the Colombian international remains one among Everton’s possibilities to strengthen the defensive unit if Branthwaite departs during the summer transfer window.
