Dominic Calvert-Lewin is unlikely to sign a new Everton deal, according to Alan Myers, despite a prospective move to Newcastle falling through. The Sky Sports journalist reacted to a Twitter inquiry on June 24 after reporting that a deal with the Magpies had been called off, hinting that he does not anticipate the striker to extend his contract at Goodison Park.
Calvert-Lewin has a year left on his Toffies deal and is garnering interest from several Premier League clubs, including West Ham and Brentford. [Football transfers, 21 June]. Myers responded to the possibility that the 27-year-old would sign a new contract now that he does not look to be moving to St. James’ Park: “I don’t see that, but let’s see”. And if he wants to move on, that may be his only option as long as a suitor is ready to pay a reasonable price.
