Janice Cayman, Leicester City’s senior defender, has signed a one-year contract extension. This afternoon, The Foxes issued an official club press statement informing WSL Full-Time of the news.

Cayman moved to Leicester City from French giants Lyon last summer. The 35-year-old Belgian international defender appeared 21 times for the Foxes in this season’s Barclays Women’s Super League, scoring four goals. Cayman is a player with a successful professional career, and her experience has greatly aided Leicester City’s development. The defender still has a lot to give the team, and Leicester City will be thrilled to have her back for another season.

After signing on again at The King Power Stadium, Cayman stated, “I am very excited to extend my contract with LCFC Women and to continue our journey together.” “I enjoyed my first season in England last year and want to continue helping the team to achieve our goals in 2024/2025.” Cayman becomes the second Leicester City player to sign a new deal this summer. Sophie Howard, a Scotland international centre-back, has also signed a one-year contract extension with The King Power Stadium.

Leicester City Women’s duo stay as six leave Leicester City midfielder Janice Cayman and defender Sophie Howard have signed new contracts, while a half-dozen players have left the club. Howard, a Scotland international, has made over 100 appearances for the Foxes, while Cayman has the record for most appearances in Belgium. Cayman stated, “I am very thrilled about extending my contract with LCFC Women and the opportunity to continue our journey together. “I enjoyed my first season in England last year and want to continue helping the team to achieve our goals in 2024/25.” Captain Aileen Whelan has retired from professional football, while Demi Lambourne and Monique Robinson have left their loan periods at Crystal Palace and Burnley, respectively. Aimee Palmer, Remy Siemsen, and Josie Green will also be leaving when their contracts expire. Former Arsenal Women’s manager takes over at Lyon.
