Breaking: Packers See Coach Receive Interview For Head Coaching(Report)

The Green Bay Packers are coming off a successful 2024 season. Despite losing in the first round of the playoffs to the 14-3 Philadelphia Eagles, they won 11 regular-season games in Jordan Love’s second season as starter. A lot went into a good season like that, and one Green Bay coach is being recognized. Breaking: Packers See Coach Receives Interview for Head Coaching Position (Report)

A source revealed on Wednesday that Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley will interview with the New York Jets. Hafley took over the Packers defense this year after four years as head coach at Boston College, and he led it to its best statistical finish since the Super Bowl in 2010. The defense improved from No. 17 last season to No. 5 this year under coordinator Joe Barry.

When coach Matt LaFleur hired Hafley, he anticipated that he would be approached for head-coaching positions in the NFL, but he had no idea how quickly. He hired Hafley in the hopes that the former NFL coach could improve the defense and put the Packers in a position to challenge for a Super Bowl. The defense improved dramatically under Hafley as the season progressed, moving from 21st in yards and 14th in points allowed after five games to fifth and sixth, respectively. Hafley was able to accomplish this despite missing his top cornerback, Jaire Alexander, for the majority of the season and receiving less pass rush success from his front four than he had hoped.
