Chicago Cubs Center Fielder Finds New Home with: A former Chicago Cubs center fielder has found a new home with the Miami Marlins.

A former Chicago Cubs center fielder has joined the Miami Marlins. The Chicago Cubs have been very active this summer, particularly in the outfield. The team acquired superstar right fielder Kyle Tucker from the Houston Astros and released center fielder Cody Bellinger in a deal with the New York Yankees, securing their three starting positions from left to right.

The franchise has made other moves this winter, the most recent being the acquisition of Ryan Pressley in a second trade with the Astros, but they did not bring back former center fielder Albert Almora Jr., who has signed a minor league contract with the Miami Marlins. On Monday morning, the Marlins published their list of Spring Training non-roster invitees, which included Almora, signaling that the outfielder had been signed to a minor league contract.

Almora is a seven-year Major League Baseball veteran who spent his first five years in Chicago. Known more for his glove than his bat, the Cubs outfielder batted.271/.309/.398 in 1,316 plate appearances over 489 games, with 38 home runs, 134 RBI, and an 84 OPS+. Almora spent the rest of his Major League career with the New York Mets and Cincinnati Reds, but he hasn’t played since 2022. The outfielder’s career batting line is.259/.300/.383 in 1,605 plate appearances in 600 games, with 33 home runs, 163 RBI, and an OPS+ of 80.
