Everton-linked defender to hold agent talks today, Goodison move remains ‘Hot’ – report

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Everton transfer target Emerson Royal will “speak with his agents today” as a Goodison Park switch is still an option. However, the Brazilian is “not convinced” by a move to Galatasaray, despite current club AC Milan negotiating directly with the Turkish outfit (Matteo Moretto, 21 January).

Fulham is another team mulling a move for the former Tottenham defender, with options for a return to the Premier League remaining “hot.” However, the article states that the right-back would “like to stay” at AC Milan rather than join another team. Emerson Royal may be an interesting transfer for Everton. At the moment, both Ashley Young and Seamus Coleman are more than capable of holding down the right-back position in David Moyes’ setup, but given both are nearing the end of their careers, a replacement will be required shortly.

Of course, the Toffees have Nathan Patterson at their disposal, but given his recent injury history, it’s questionable whether he’ll be able to establish himself in Moyes’ setup. So, if the price is right for Everton, a move for Emerson may make a lot of sense since he’s an attack-minded player who could benefit from having a target man like Dominic Calvert-Lewin to go for in the box.

Only time will tell if Moyes chooses to sign the Brazilian, but if he does, it will undoubtedly strengthen their defensive ranks and offer the Toffees a stronger chance of remaining in the Premier League this season.
