Green Bay Packers Plan to Interview Robert Saleh Ally for the Newly-Vacated DL Job After Jason Rebrovich’s Sacking, Per 1 Insider

The Green Bay Packers are pushing quickly to locate a successor for former defensive line coach Jason Rebrovich, who was fired yesterday. Rebrovich joined Green Bay in 2022 as an outside linebackers coach on the staff of former defensive coordinator Joe Barry, before being promoted to “pass rush specialist” in 2023. In 2024, the 46-year-old coach oversaw the whole defensive line, with Jeff Hatley serving as defensive coordinator.

The Green Bay Packers fired Rebrovich because their defensive line underperformed under his leadership, particularly in terms of pass rush. The defensive line position is the second opening on the team’s coaching staff following the retirement of quarterbacks coach Tom Clements. The Green Bay Packers are considering replacing Jason Rebrovich with the defensive line coach from the New York Jets. According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Green Bay Packers want to interview Aaron Whitecotton for the vacant defensive line position.

Whitecotton has spent the last four seasons as the New York Jets’ defensive line coach. He joined the team in 2021 as a member of Robert Saleh’s staff. Saleh, an offensive consultant for the Green Bay Packers, most likely proposed Whitecotton to Matt LaFleur and his team. If Whitecotton is hired, he will be responsible for getting greater productivity out of Kenny Clark, Rashan Gary, Devonte Wyatt, Kingsley Enagbare, and Lukas Van Ness, among others.
