Keisean Nixon Expresses Dissatisfaction With ‘Limited’ Role for Green Bay Packers, Demands Big Change For Next Season – ‘I Want To Be CB1’

After the Green Bay Packers’ elimination from the 2024-25 season, Tucker Kraft is expected to take a leadership role. Keisean Nixon, a cornerback, is among those who want to play a larger role on the team. He wants to be more than just a return specialist.

“I want to be CB1,” he told reporters Monday at the Green Bay facilities. “CB1 does not do kick returns. That’s exactly what it is. Nixon’s status as a return specialist has lessened this season as a result of the National Football League’s new rules. He had 65 return attempts over the previous two seasons, but only had 18 this year. He was even the return yardage leader in 2022 and 2023. He thrived as a cornerback, recording a career-high seven pass breakups, three forced fumbles, and one interception in 2024.

Keisean Nixon wants to discuss his role with the coaching staff. Nixon, 27, signed a three-year, $18 million contract extension in March last year. That shows his role is expanding. He is taking the initiative as early as possible. Nixon stated that he will have a chat with the coaching staff and that he is done as a return specialist. “I’m kind of over it; I don’t really want to do it no more,” he admitted. “There will be meetings with the coaching staff and so on, but I believe it is over for me.
