We Are Out Of Patient: Green Bay Packers: Fans Are All Saying the Same Thing About Matt LaFleur Amid Loss to Eagles

The Green Bay Packers’ postseason run ended prematurely with a 22-10 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles on Wild Card Weekend. Green Bay was already missing notable players Christian Watson and Jaire Alexander, but Elgton Jenkins, Devonte Wyatt, and Romeo Doubs all left the game early due to injury. Additionally, center Josh Myers departed the game late in the fourth quarter with what appeared to be a serious leg injury.

Of course, these injuries were not the reason for the Packers’ loss. They obviously didn’t help, but the truth is that Green Bay appeared unprepared to face a tremendously talented Eagles squad. Furthermore, the Packers’ self-inflicted blunders, which had plagued them all season, reared their ugly head in this game. The Green Bay Packers recorded four turnovers and two personal fouls.

Green Bay got off to a bad start with the opening kickoff. Keisean Nixon fumbled the first kickoff, giving Philadelphia a short field that they converted with an early touchdown. When they grabbed the ball on offense, the Packers reverted to their old traditions of starting slowly. They couldn’t move the ball down the field, and if they did, Jordan Love threw an interception.

Love threw two interceptions in the first half, ending Green Bay drives. Late in the game, Nixon and defensive lineman TJ Slaton were both called for personal fouls, allowing the Eagles to gain an additional 15 yards on each play. As the Packers attempted to score late in the fourth quarter, following the two-minute warning, Love threw his third interception.

The Packers’ lack of discipline and failure to start games well on offense have led to supporters saying similar things about head coach Matt LaFleur.

Green Bay Packers fans want more from Matt LaFleur.

The truth is that the level of play on the field starts and ends with LaFleur’s ability to prepare the club for each game. This year, particularly late in the season, it appears that he has not done an adequate job of doing so. Fans resorted to social media near the end of the game to express their dissatisfaction with the head coach:

As can be seen, fans are fed up with the team’s lack of discipline and preparation this season. They are the NFL’s youngest squad, but expectations were significantly higher. The truth is, LaFleur needs to do a better job of keeping his guys accountable. If he had done a better job of it earlier, these blunders would not have occurred during the playoffs.
