After portions of three seasons, the New Orleans Saints fired Dennis Allen and are currently looking for a new head coach. Former Dallas Cowboys head coach Mike McCarthy is one possibility the team is anticipated to consider now that he is available. However, the former Super Bowl winner is expected to pique the curiosity of multiple teams.
This might prompt the Saints to choose another coach, one who is already familiar with how things work in New Orleans. New Orleans Saints expected to hire Aaron Glenn. Aaron Glenn, a former player and defensive backs coach, is another strong candidate for the New Orleans Saints’ coaching job. Glenn is best known as the Detroit Lions’ defensive coordinator, but he’s rumored to be looking for another promotion, and the Saints could provide the perfect opportunity.
Recently, The Athletic’s Zack Rosenblatt produced some coaching predictions, attempting to forecast which top prospects will occupy each of the NFL’s current positions. Rosenblatt projected that Glenn will be hired by the New Orleans Saints. “Glenn is well-known in New Orleans for his tenure as their defensive backs coach from 2016 to 2020 under Sean Payton, and he played his final year there in 2008. It is likely that he will land in either New Orleans or New York. Glenn is likely more interested in the Saints job than some of the other top contenders, and it doesn’t hurt that he has Drew Brees’ endorsement (and would get one from Payton if the team called him).
According to Brees, Glenn has spent time with Sean Payton and Dan Campbell, learning firsthand how to build a winning culture. Could he bring that approach to New Orleans? Rosenblatt indicated that if the Saints do not employ Glenn, another candidate to consider is Miami Dolphins defensive coordinator Anthony Weaver or Buffalo Bills offensive coordinator Joe Brady. Both have emerged as popular possibilities after leading top-ten teams in the 2024-25 season. Both, like Glenn, have never been an NFL head coach before.
