Giannis Antetokounmpo and the Milwaukee Bucks returned to form on Monday night, defeating the Eastern Conference’s lightweights, the Toronto Raptors, 128-104. Toronto provided little opposition against the Bucks, but the two-time NBA Most Valuable Player injured himself while attempting to make a defensive play. Apparently,’s hand was bloodied after attempting a chasedown block. After the game, Bucks head coach Doc Rivers gave an update on Antetokounmpo’s hand.
“He needed stitches,” Rivers told reporters (via Eric Nehm of The Athletic). “He didn’t want to come out because he thought he could finish, but the bleeding continued. He was certainly affected by it. You could see it was affecting his ballhandling a little.” Milwaukee Bucks’ Giannis Antetokounmpo enjoyed a cakewalk over the Toronto Raptors.
Antetokounmpo played only 29 minutes against the Raptors, but he recorded a triple-double with 11 points, 13 assists, and 12 boards. It wasn’t an eye-popping performance, but Antetokounmpo didn’t need to put up massive numbers to defeat the inferior Raptors. Damian Lillard led the Bucks’ offense with 25 points, while Bobby Portis came off the bench and scored 20.
Through 28 games of the 2024-25 NBA regular season, Antetokounmpo is averaging 31.6 points on 60.2% shooting, 11.6 rebounds, and 6.1 assists per game. The Bucks (18-16) will next play at home against the San Antonio Spurs on Wednesday.
