Ken Roczen will race a HEP Suzuki in the 250 class at the Pro… Read more

This completely reminds me of Kevin Windham. Remember in 2009, when K-Dub decided to ride a GEICO Honda in the 250 class at Unadilla? That day, I was with my father beside the fence. The atmosphere were incredible, and the crowd were going crazy for him as usual. That day’s finishes were hot and cold, with him finishing 12th in the first moto and being involved in a crash in the first turn of the second moto. He charged back to 21st in that race and returned to Budds Creek on a 450 the next weekend.

In any case, it was exciting to see K-Dub return to Pro Motocross after only competing in Supercross since the end of the 2007 outdoor series. Obviously, Roczen’s scenario is different. He is not merely SX. However, going down to the 250 class is not something you see a star of the sport doing. He returned to race Unadilla before withdrawing from Budds Creek to compete in the Ironman 250. I assume the man is simply doing what he wants right now.

I’ve learnt in the past to never underestimate Ken Roczen. He has some of the fastest sprint speed of all time, and he usually gets off to a good start. I don’t see any disadvantages to him riding in the 250 class, except from the fact that he hasn’t raced one since the end of the 2013 season on a KTM. He has not raced an RMZ-250 since the Motocross of Nations in 2010.

It makes no difference how he does it. This is fun. I encourage other cyclists to do the same. If Cooper Webb’s thumb was fine, he could join Kenny in doing the same. What about you, Eli Tomac? How do you anticipate Roczen’s weekend will unfold? Top five? Podium? Will he win? One thing is certain: it will be an incredible show to see two different periods collide with Haiden Deegan, Roczen, and the rest of the team. I still have a lot of questions, but I can’t wait until the gate drops for Moto 1.
