Speaking to The Sun after a successful start to the 2024/25 season with the Black Cats, Le Bris has cast doubt on his long-term future in the northeast, noting that he requires a fluid system to keep things fresh and his mind focused on the work. After a mixed 2023/24 season, the Wearside outfit would have been eager to make improvement in the early stages of the season under Le Bris, who was only hired in the summer following his departure from Lorient.

However, Le Bris had the opportunity to work with the club during the preseason, and it appears to have paid off. Currently at the top of the standings, Le Bris’ faith in youth and the signing of Wilson Isidor have been critical to the club’s success, with the latter proving to be the striker the Black Cats lacked last season. Prior to the international break, they had a poor run of three consecutive draws against Queens Park Rangers, Preston North End, and Coventry City.

However, they remain at the top of the league at this moment and will be eager to get off to a solid start in their forthcoming set of games following the international break. Given how young their team is, with Jobe Bellingham and Chris Rigg still in their teens, they are only expected to improve, but it remains to be seen whether their lack of experience will be a hindrance in the short term. They must also be aware of prospective interest in their manager and most promising players. Their progress is likely being noted by top-tier teams across Europe, and players such as Bellingham and Rigg have been linked with moves away from the SoL in recent months.

“If everything stays the same, I’ll need something else to grow, maintain my vitality, and connect with others. “It was a completely new experience, and I knew it would be different, but I welcomed the difference and was prepared for it. “I have visited many football clubs in Spain and England so was aware of the environment and really liked it.” Sunderland AFC’s board could play a significant role in maintaining Regis Le Bris.

Sunderland’s management, notably owner Kyril-Louis Dreyfus, may need to take a few critical steps to keep Le Bris at the Stadium of Light for several years. First, they must aim to keep their finest players for an extended period of time. Bellingham and Rigg are likely to play at the top level in the future if they continue to develop well, and keeping them could entice Le Bris to stay with the club and work with these intriguing players.
