Sunderland defender gets new club after months of being a free agent.

Declan John, a former Sunderland defender, has joined Scottish club St Mirren on a short-term contract. The Wales-capped left-back was released by Bolton Wanderers in the summer, and he trained with Swindon Town after leaving the club. He did not sign a contract at the County Ground, but has moved on to join the Scottish Premiership team on a deal that runs until January. His arrival comes after former Sheffield Wednesday and Huddersfield Town defender Jaden Brown’s contract was mutually terminated.

According to St Mirren’s official website, John stated, “I’m absolutely delighted to be here.” It’s been a hectic few days.”I arrived on Thursday, trained on Friday, and went to witness the game on Saturday, which was a huge victory for the boys. I’ve enjoyed it and am looking forward to getting back into training. “Everything has been so happy once we walked in, and you can feel it in the changing room. It feels like a pretty nice place to be.

John graduated from Cardiff City’s academy and played for the Bluebirds in the Premier League. During his early days at Cardiff, he went on loan to Barnsley. His reputation has suffered in recent years, yet he has previously played for Rangers, Sunderland, and Swansea City. St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson said: “Declan is here on a short-term deal with the possibility of extending depending on how things go.”Given the conditions, we are severely lacking in defensive cover. Declan comes in with a wealth of experience.

He has experience playing at top levels and in Scotland, so we are fortunate to have him join us.We saw his quality during his initial few days of training. He’s a talented child with excellent technical skills, but he hasn’t played much football in recent months, so we need to look into that and attempt to get him up to speed. “To add to the squad with the quality and background Declan has, I believe we are very lucky at this stage of the season.”
