“I say this with regret for Everton” – Italian politician wades into Friedkin takeover and protests

Maurizio Gasparri, a Roma supporter who represents the Lazio region in the Italian parliament, spoke to Rai Radio1 about the protest against the ownership that took place during the defeat to Inter Milan. Claudio Ranieri, the former manager of AS Roma, spoke about the club’s Friedkin ownership over the weekend, and it wasn’t exactly a positive take for Everton fans. The Italian said that the Giallorossi’s American owners operate with a sense of coldness and that the club has lacked a reference point, especially after Daniele de Rossi’s dismissal.

According to RomaNews, he stated: “I agree with the Curva Sud’s decision from yesterday, who missed 15 minutes because they hate this Roma management.” I would have traveled to the Curva to raise the flag in opposition to these Friedkins, who should depart as quickly as possible.
Gasparri also pushed the Friedkins to concentrate on Everton, but he believes they may also sabotage that effort.

“They purchased Everton; let them handle that.” For the Everton supporters who will discover who they are up against, I say this with deep remorse. Vox populi, vox dei [God speaks via the voice of the people].

For Roma’s owners, the past two months have been somewhat tumultuous. They have invested heavily in Roma, who were big spenders during the summer transfer window, so it’s not like they haven’t.

Months after offering De Rossi a new contract, the club fired him, demonstrating their lack of preparation and communication.
