Regardless of how poorly Everton has done in recent years, every fan has identified at least one player as their favourite. However, due to underperformance, the pool is frequently drastically reduced. And, while they may be in a decent place right now, with Everton manager Sean Dyche having partially stabilized the ship, there are still only a few names that Evertonians might choose as their best player. Michael Ball, who played with the Toffees for four years between 1997 and 2001, has finally revealed his obvious choice.
Michael Ball names his favorite Everton player. Ball’s latest essay for the Liverpool ECHO included a lengthy love letter to one Everton player. And for good cause, given how highly regarded Iliman Ndiaye already is. The former Everton player wrote: “Iliman Ndiaye broke the deadlock and is my favourite player at the moment.” I’m just saying ‘good luck’ to any players that woke up on Monday morning after a bad night’s sleep and have to try to mark him in practice.
“He’s one of those players who makes things happen and forces the opposition to commit, as he often has the opportunity to put the ball away or create opportunities for his team-mates. He’s just a threat, and I thought he played fantastically well again.”We’ve been crying out for a player like that. When I first saw him play, I wondered, ‘Is he really this good?’ Was it just because he represented something new for Everton after a long absence of such a player? However, in recent weeks, he has demonstrated his worth and talent.
‘He doesn’t appear to be a typical Dyche player, but I believe he’ll be among the first on the team sheet now. We need to get the ball to him as much as possible because he always tries to commit the defender and get a half-yard on them. ‘As a defender, you don’t know what he’ll do. If you go tight, he’ll spin you, and if you let him go, he’ll find a pass or a cross to the strikers, or he can hit the target himself.
‘He keeps opponents guessing, and it appears that he enjoys wearing an Everton jersey; long may that continue.’ Iliman Ndiaye enjoys his new Everton chant. After scoring again at the weekend, cementing his standing as a fan favourite among Evertonians, a new song boomed through the concourse, professing their love for the Senegal international. After all, with so much skill, speed, and work ethic, he was bound to win them over in no time.
Ndiaye even reacted to his new song, with his wife filming him singing along the day after Everton’s victory over Ipswich Town. To emphasize how well-liked he is already at Goodison Park, Phil Jagielka compared Ndiaye to Steven Pienaar, another trickery who is still revered by Everton fans. If anyone earned a chant, it was Ndiaye. Hopefully, this will be the beginning of a highly fruitful connection between the player and his followers.
