Shortly before the Miami Dolphins’ opening game of the season on Sunday, star Tyreek Hill was handcuffed amid a heated altercation. The police have released a statement regarding the event.

On Sunday morning, Hill was stopped in Miami for a driving infraction just a block away from Hard Rock Stadium. The wide receiver was reportedly handcuffed on the ground after getting into a verbal altercation with a police officer during the encounter. Here is a link to a video.

Since then, a statement on the incident has been issued by the Miami-Dade Police Department. According to director Stephanie V. Daniels, a “immediate review” has been asked for.

According to ESPN’s Marcel Louis-Jacques, Daniels stated, “We are aware of the recent detention of Miami Dolphins player Tyreek Hill by Miami-Dade Police Department officers.” “We are also evaluating the body camera footage that is now accessible, and I have asked an immediate examination of all incident facts. We’ll keep you informed as more information becomes available.

In an interview with ESPN on Sunday, Hill’s agent Drew Rosenhaus stated that he thought handcuffing Hill was “completely unnecessary.” Rosenhaus went on to say that he would insist on looking into the situation.

Despite being in handcuffs just hours before kickoff, Hill still played against the Jacksonville Jaguars. He made a huge impact, too, catching an 80-yard touchdown pass from Tua Tagovailoa in the second half.
