Orlando Pirates head coach Jose Riveiro has shared his thoughts on the recent transfer decisions involving Tshegofatso Mabasa and Boitumelo Radiopane, two players central to the club’s plans. The sale of Mabasa for a staggering R55.7 million has garnered significant attention, especially as it comes amid the club’s efforts to restructure and strengthen its squad. Additionally, the return of young star Boitumelo Radiopane has been a key part of these decisions.

Riveiro praised Mabasa for his contributions to the team, acknowledging that while his departure leaves a gap, the transfer fee reflects his value and the club’s sound business strategy. “Tshegofatso has been an integral part of our journey, and we are incredibly grateful for everything he has done for the Orlando Pirates. His skill, work ethic, and commitment to the club are qualities that we admire. The decision to sell him was not easy, but we believe that this move is beneficial for both him and the club,” Riveiro stated.

He further emphasized that the sale aligns with the Pirates’ broader vision for the future, allowing them to reinvest in developing new talent and strengthening other areas of the team. “This is a strategic move for us. With the funds from this transfer, we will be in a stronger position to reinforce our squad and continue building for the future. It’s not just about replacing a player, but about moving forward as a club with a clear plan,” Riveiro added.

On Boitumelo Radiopane’s return, Riveiro expressed excitement about reintegrating the talented forward into the team. Radiopane, who had been loaned out, impressed during his time away, and Riveiro believes he will play a crucial role moving forward. “Boitumelo is an exceptional talent, and his return is a big boost for us. He has gained valuable experience, and we are confident that he is ready to take on bigger responsibilities within the squad. His growth has been remarkable, and we’re excited to see how he will contribute in the upcoming season,” Riveiro explained.
