Everton fans will be happy with their club’s progress thus far during this summer’s transfer window. Sean Dyche will also be excited on Merseyside after his team’s performance over the weekend. Everton secured their first victory of the summer at Deepdale on Saturday, winning 3-0. In recognition of Kevin Thelwell’s positive work, debutantes Jake O’Brien and Jesper Lindstrom scored two of those goals. However, it appears that one of Everton’s attempts to strengthen their forward line has been rejected despite a reasonable bid.
Everton had a significant bid rejected for an attacker. Saturday’s triumph over Preston will have given the fans a significant boost ahead of their season start in less than two weeks. Lindstrom, the Blues’ new winger, scored a fantastic goal with a direct free kick. There is no better way to make your debut than to score such a high-quality goal in front of the travelling away fans. However, it appears that Lindstrom’s presence at Goodison Park has ended Everton’s aspirations to sign a specific forward in the remaining weeks of the window.
According to The Athletic, Everton’s £23 million deal for Leeds United’s Wilfried Gnonto has already been pushed back this summer. The report does, however, point out that Everton’s attitude differs on this. However, Everton is reported to have felt they were making progress in their pursuit of the Italian attacker. However, after Leeds lost Crysencio Summerville to West Ham, Everton recognized how difficult the negotiations would be and backed out of the running. Everton are no longer in the race for Wilfried Gnonto. Given that Leeds have already lost Archie Gray and Summerville, any additional exits for big players are likely to come at a premium.
Daniel Farke will be looking to return to the Premier League, and he will need his finest players to stay with the club between now and the end of the month. And Gnonto is now unquestionably one of his best players, having been described as’special’ since moving to England. Everton now have only a few weeks to make any more additions to their squad ahead of the new season, but Saturday’s performance must have served as a significant boost ahead of the season opener.
