Sean Dyche’s Everton transfer priority emerges before August 30.

According to TEAMtalk, Sean Dyche intends to pursue a midfielder as his “priority” Everton move before the deadline of August 30. On August 4, the site reported that Manchester City outcast Kalvin Phillips is one of the manager’s main targets for the position at Goodison Park. Everton have already made significant changes this transfer window and could add more players before the 30 August deadline. Will Everton sign Kalvin Phillips? The Toffees have already undergone significant change throughout the summer transfer window. The club has sold and purchased several players in the hopes of boosting the general quality of their roster and possibly even their Premier League status.

Phillips has had to adjust to life away from Leeds United since joining the Cityzens. He spent the second half of last season on loan at West Ham United, hoping to push his claim for a Euro 2024 spot. Unfortunately for the Yorkshireman, this did not work out, as he was excluded from Gareth Southgate’s side. Phillips would be a like-for-like replacement for Amadou Onana, who recently joined Aston Villa for about £50 million [Sunday Mirror, 28 July, page 73].

The team already signed Tim Iroegbunam at the start of the window, but it seems unfair to rely on the 21-year-old week in and week out. The team does have other possibilities in their ranks, but another midfielder is required to assure the club’s depth.
