Motherwell will play a friendly behind closed doors at Goodison Park on Tuesday. Everton will host a private friendly at Goodison Park this week. Motherwell, from the Scottish Premiership, will visit Merseyside on Tuesday, giving Sean Dyche another chance to assess his team ahead of the new season. It could be the first taste of life as a player at the Grand Old Lady for new arrivals Jesper Lindstrom, Jake O’Brien, Tim Iroegbunam, and Iliman Ndiaye.

All four summer recruits, as well as returning loanee Jack Harrison, contributed to Everton’s 3-0 victory at Preston North End on Saturday. Lindstrom and O’Brien both scored in the Blues’ most impressive preseason performance to date. The midweek friendly against Motherwell will also provide the club its first look at Goodison Park ahead of Everton’s final season before moving to its new waterfront stadium next summer.

Roma, the Italian giants, will then pay a visit next weekend (Saturday, August 10, 5pm kick-off), before the Blues begin their Premier League season at home against Brighton Hove Albion on August 17. Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell talks about the friendly after his side drew 0-0 at home to Ross County on Saturday. He told the Glasgow World: “We have a bounce game on Tuesday.” On Tuesday, we face Everton in a closed-door game at Goodison Park. So that overnight stay, playing against the top, top-level side, will be a fantastic test for us as well as their preparation for the season’s start.

“But I have a whole bunch of guys there who are also yearning for minutes. So, as much as we attempt to enhance what we’ve done today, I believe that investing more minutes in the players and the difficulties that await them will help to strengthen that group.”
