It was evident by the close of the previous campaign that the Green Bay Packers believed they had found their future quarterback.
They then had to pay their quarterback as a result.
Last season, Jordan Love had a strong second half that helped the Packers not only make it to the postseason but also defeat the Dallas Cowboys on the road. By the end of the previous season, he was among the NFL’s hottest quarterbacks.
Thus, according to Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein, Love and the Packers reached a four-year, $220 million deal extension on Friday night. Love will be the highest paid quarterback in NFL history as a result of the deal.
As part of the agreement, Love will also get the largest signing bonus in NFL history, $75 million. Of his deal, about $155 million is totally guaranteed.
Tua Tagovailoa of the Miami Dolphins reportedly agreed to a four-year, $212.4 million contract extension hours earlier on Friday.
During that late-season run last autumn, Love earned a contract extension. He struck a deal with the Packers. Love arrived at OTAs in good faith, but while the deal was being completed, she missed training camp drills.
The transaction has completed. The Packers can now see the extent of Love’s potential.
