Pink Floyd will release an enhanced “Special Edition” of their 1970 album Atom Heart Mother on December 8. The original LP will be complemented by footage from the band’s debut concert in Japan in 1971. The set’s track listing may be seen below.

The video clip, which will be included on Blu-ray, is from Pink Floyd’s presentation at Japan’s Hakone Aphrodite Festival in August 1971. The clips were originally included in Pink Floyd’s 2016 box set The Early Years. What Is Included in the Upcoming Pink Floyd ‘Atom Heart Mother’ Box Set? Atom Heart Mother will be released in a two-disc set in a 7-inch gatefold sleeve, containing the album on CD and Blu-ray. The video was enhanced from a freshly discovered recording. The package, which was only issued in Japan in 2021, comprises a photo book with never-before-seen photos, reproductions of a brochure, a poster, a concert ticket, and an event flier. Hakone Aphrodite was promoted as Japan’s first outdoor rock festival. On August 6 and 7, 1971, the concerts were held in a newly developed location near Hakone called Ashinoko Lake. Pink Floyd released Atom Heart Mother as their fifth album in October 1970. When the band first performed in Japan, Meddle, which was released in early November 1971, was still two months away. In addition to the side-long “Atom Heart Mother” suite, which will be included on the upcoming Blu-ray, the band performed “Careful With That Axe, Eugene,” “A Saucerful Of Secrets,” and “Echoes.” The footage of those performances could not be located.
