In what is not his first attempt, Osborne is voicing his opposition to the prospective legalization of gambling, notably online sports betting, in Nebraska. Osborne is a major reason why Nebraska people would frequently cross the Missouri River into Iowa to gamble, resulting in millions of dollars in lost tax revenue each year.
According to a KETV article, Osborne believes that allowing internet sports betting will harm young people while costing the state more money. “I see this being very dangerous, particularly for young people,” Osborne told the audience. “I can guarantee you there will be increased addiction and increased costs,” Osborne informed you. Two constitutional amendments would allow voters to decide on the matter in the November election, and Osborne opposes both. Osborne disagrees with Republican Governor Jim Pillen, who believes voters should decide on the subject. Many Nebraska Cornhuskers fans are unhappy with Tom Osborne.
Osborne is revered in Nebraska for his contributions to the football program, bringing three national championships in four years and creating the 1995 Nebraska Cornhuskers, widely regarded as the most dominant college football team of all time. However, some fans remain dissatisfied with Osborne’s political actions, arguing that he should stay in his lane.
