Jordan Love, the franchise quarterback for the Green Bay Packers, and the team recently reached a historic contract extension. Love inked a $220 million, four-year contract after missing the first few days of training camp while he finalized his deal. He shares the highest NFL pay of $55 million annually with Trevor Lawrence and Joe Burrow.

Not only is Love tied for the highest annual salary of any quarterback in the NFL, but he also received the largest signing bonus in NFL history—$75 million. Along with uncommon guaranteed money beyond the first season of the contract, the Packers also gave him. Green Bay usually avoids making any financial guarantees beyond the first year of a new deal.

As one might anticipate, as soon as word leaked out about his contract renewal, Love was inundated with calls and texts from well-wishers. Peyton Manning, a member of the Pro Football Hall of Fame, was among those who contacted him.

“I received numerous texts. Love remarked, “My phone was definitely blowing up.” Peyton Manning made contact with me. With Peyton, I’ve had a few chats.

It was recently rumored that a documentary about the Packers franchise would be produced by Manning’s Omaha Productions.

When the NFL icon attended training camp last year, Love shared the counsel that Manning gave him:

“The biggest thing is just keep going, never let your head down,” Love said. “It’s not going to be perfect. There’s going to be losses. It’s not going to be a perfect season every year, and it’s finding that capability to bounce back when not everything’s perfect. Peyton talked about that. That’s his biggest thing, handling adversity. He said he went – I don’t know exactly what it was – like 3-13 his rookie year and talked about having the rookie interception stat that he holds right now and then obviously his second year they bounced back and went like 13-3.”
