Breaking News: The band will never reunite, and Roger Waters is actually working on an album.

LONDON — Roger Waters has denied the idea of Pink Floyd returning on stage, stating that he is “busy doing other things” such as working on a new album and writing a memoir. In an interview with Reuters, the guitarist and singer-songwriter said he enjoyed his time with the rock band he co-founded in 1965 but had no ambitions to perform with his two former surviving comrades, drummer Nick Mason and guitarist David Gilmour.

Waters, who created albums such as The Dark Side of the Moon and The Wall, departed Pink Floyd in 1985 due to personal and creative conflicts. He was entangled in legal battles over the group’s name as his former members proceeded without him. He and Gilmour have been at odds for years in one of rock’s most famous feuds, most recently sparring on social media on the Russia-Ukraine conflict. When asked if the three would ever perform together again, Waters replied, “No, whatever for?” He stated the thought of a reunion was like a sentimental longing in certain individuals, but “it’s not in me”.

Pink Floyd last performed together in 2005 at the Live 8 charity performance in London, where Waters joined Mason, with whom he is acquainted, Gilmour, and keyboardist Richard Wright on stage. “We did it.” And I don’t regret it because Rick (Wright) was still alive, and I’m grateful that we had the opportunity to perform three or four songs,” Waters remarked. “We played quite well, and the audience enjoyed it. So I’m quite happy. Do I want to do anything similar (to it)? No, I don’t, especially since there are only three of us still alive. Wright died in 2008. Syd Barrett, the band’s original frontman who quit in 1968 owing to erratic behaviour caused by drug usage, died in 2006.

Mason told Reuters in May that he would consider a reunion, but Waters and Gilmour were not interested. “I’m busy doing other things… there’s no ill will or anything. “People are different,” Waters stated. “David and I are very, very different people and that’s okay.” Waters, 80, stated that he was now working on his new album, The Bar, as well as a memoir. “I’ve been working on it for a few years… and I’m currently revising it. “So, I’m a busy chap,” he explained.
