The highly anticipated high school basketball game between Lyon County and North Laurel on Saturday night at Lexington Catholic High School did not disappoint.
And a major factor in that was the play’s outstanding protagonists.
In the match, junior point guard and UK recruit Travis Perry (Lyon County) faced off against senior combo guard and recent signee for Kentucky men’s basketball Reed Sheppard (North Laurel).
In front of an enthusiastic audience of Kentucky supporters in Lexington, Lyon County emerged victorious in the “Second Chance Shootout” event, 90-83, thanks to outstanding efforts from both players.
Perry, who is presently vying for the all-time scoring record for boys’ basketball in Kentucky high schools, put on yet another impressive scoring display in a major setting.
Perry went 17 for 26 from the field and 10 for 16 from three-point range to score 45 points in the Lyon County victory. In the victory, he also provided five assists.
