Jayson Tatum explains why he felt nervous after meeting with Michael Jordan.

Recently, Jayson Tatum told a hilarious and admittedly unsettling anecdote about his first encounter with basketball great Michael Jordan. The Boston Celtics’ young star reflected on the unpleasant meeting that resulted in a bond, to the point where he now calls Jordan “Uncle Mike.”

Tatum first met Jordan during a 2019 event in Paris, when he was first exposed to the brand and signed a contract with the legendary athlete. During their first encounter, Tatum, who was apprehensive and uneasy, unintentionally spilled Jordan’s wine, which put him in a humiliating position.

Tatum recalled the incident from the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast, when he talked about his nervousness before he approached Jordan for the first time. Tatum clarified that a large number of media representatives were present at the location. For the star of the Celtics, it was all unreal as Jordan announced Tatum’s name over the microphone. Furthermore, Jordan and Jayson shared a meal together later on. He recalled being apprehensive as hell in front of MJ.

Tatum eventually plucked up the bravery to welcome Jordan, though not before accidentally tipping over a wine glass thanks to his mother’s prodding. JT went on, “My hands were perspiring. I was perspiring. “Mike what up?” is how I react when I get up. The wine glass was there, and I accidentally knocked it over, shattering it.
