Chelsea star Frank Leboeuf has picked Jordan Pickford as one of three goalkeepers his former club should target this summer instead of signing Manchester City’s Ederson. Despite helping Pep Guardiola’s team win trophy after trophy since joining the club in 2017, the Brazilian international has been linked with an unexpected exit from the Etihad Stadium this summer.

Chelsea, meantime, Enzo Maresca could be looking for a new shot-stopper before the summer transfer deadline, with questions about what  will do in the club’s goalkeeping department. Djordje Petrovic was the man in charge of the gloves for the bulk of last season after summer signing Robert Sanchez was forced to watch from the sidelines because of his injury

Chelsea might easily elect to bring in a new goalkeeper to replace the aforementioned duo, therefore Leboeuf has highlighted Everton’s Pickford, AC Milan’s Mike Maignan, and Brighton & Hove Albion’s Bart Verbruggen as three goalkeepers who would be “excellent” for the Blues. However, he believes a deal for Maignan will be difficult to finalize due to the team’s lack of Champions League experience.

“Ederson is clearly being left out for a reason, and I do not believe Chelsea should sign him. When asked about Chelsea’s goalkeeper dilemma, Leboeuf told BoyleSports, which offers the latest Euro 2024 Betting, that there has always been a cause for Guardiola to sell the players in the past.

“With the exception of Cole Palmer, who refused to wait to play, [Raheem] Sterling, and Gabriel Jesus for Arsenal, all of the players he has sold have struggled at their new teams. If Pep doesn’t want you, there’s a reason, which is why I’d be wary of signing Ederson if I were Chelsea.
