After two consecutive victories, the Celtics were defeated 101-90 by the Mavericks on Friday, bringing their Summer League record to 2-2.

Boston’s time in Las Vegas saw Baylor Scheierman improve defensively, Anton Watson become more aggressive offensively, and players like Jaden Springer and Neemias Queta emerge as some of the best on the floor, which is exactly what Celtics fans and the organization expected in Sin City.

In the team’s final Summer League game, JD Davison, Drew Peterson, and Jahmi’us Ramsey wore street clothing to support Springer and Queta.

That provided more opportunities for the eight players that suited up for Boston in their NBA Finals rematch — not really — versus Dallas.

Here’s what and who stood out among the group.

The Celtics’ first-round pick knocked down 5/8 shots, including 3/6 from beyond the arc, demonstrating his effectiveness off the catch, the dribble, and showcasing his range, burying a three from 28 feet late in the contest.

Scheierman also grabbed five boards and was an efficient facilitator, particularly on cross-court passes off the dribble that set up his teammates for quality three-point shots.

He also deserves credit for defending with his feet rather than his hands following Boston’s first Summer League game against Miami, a change that he maintained throughout his stint in Las Vegas.

Additionally, props to him for attempting to take leadership on Friday. From this author’s perspective, Scheierman appeared set, and it appeared that he should have been rewarded for his efforts, but the call went against him.
