On Friday night, the New York Yankees suffered a 9–7 loss to the Boston Red Sox, indicating yet another probable collapse. Though there hasn’t been any trading before Monday’s trade deadline, general manager Brian Cashman is expected to make a bold and successful move in the next two days.

Although the Yankees’ offense has had moments of brilliance, either a major offensive upgrade at second base or a top-tier third baseman are urgently needed. The bullpen also needs some additions to help mitigate its current shortcomings.

Nestor Cortes is regressing significantly; his ERA increased to 4.13 after giving up four earned runs in 4.2 innings versus Boston. But in what could be a calculated move, Andy Martino of SNY revealed that the Yankees sent a scout to see Friday’s Rays vs. Reds game, maybe for a last assessment before making a big trade.

Yandy Diaz, Jonathan India, Isaac Paredes, and a few bullpen components are among the guys being evaluated. India, a right-handed infielder who is 27 years old, would suit the Yankees perfectly. Before becoming a free agency in 2027, he has one more season of control. This season, he is hitting.269/.373/.411 with eight home runs and forty RBIs. India has a strong batting line of.322/.423/.508 when it comes to runners in scoring position, despite a difficult start following the All-Star break.
